How to Read an Earnings Calendar
Not financial advice. Verify claims independently.
An earnings calendar organizes company reporting events. Before using an entry, check its source, timezone, and whether the date is confirmed or estimated. Always confirm dates against the company IR calendar.
Read the timing labels
BMO means before the market opens; AMC means after the market closes. An exact release time and the earnings call time may be different. Keep both in your notes and verify them on the company investor-relations page.
Separate estimates from results
A consensus estimate is an expectation. A reported result is what the company publishes. Check the period and whether the figures use comparable accounting definitions before interpreting a difference.
Keep the source attached
For each event, record the company, reporting period, release time, source link, and the time you last checked it. Dates can move; a copied calendar entry should never become the only source of truth.
Use a review checklist
After publication, compare the release with your notes, mark revised dates, and capture questions for the call. A sample calendar is useful for learning the workflow, but it does not provide a current trading signal.
